Two people have been killed in election clashes at Langolcourt and Chandina constituencies in Cumilla district. The incidents took place after the voting started on Sunday (Dec 30).
Eye witnesses at Langolcourt’s Murgaon polling centre some miscreants beat up Bacchu Miah when he was entering the centre. He was declared dead after taking to hospital.
Local people said Bacchu was a BNP supporter and a farmer by profession.
Inspector of Langolcourt police station Md Ashraf confirmed the news.
“We are aware about the incident but we are yet to certain who are involved in it,” Ashraf said.
Meanwhile, a person was killed when the police opened fire at Chandina’s West Belasar Government Primary School centre.
Presiding Officer of the centre Humayun Kabir claimed, “The police opened fire when there was attempt to snatch ballot box.”
The name of the deceased is Mujib (35), son of Sujad Ali.
Chandina police OC Abu Faisal confirmed the incident.
