Jashore-3 candidate for the ruling Awami League, Kazi Nabil Ahmed cast his vote at the city's Seba Sangha Girls School centre.
"Jashore voters are casting their votes in a peaceful manner, " he told the media after casting his vote around 11am on Sunday (Dec 30).
Expressing satisfaction at the environment in polling centres, he said, "Voter turnout is also good."
On vote-rigging allegations by the BNP and Jamaat, he said, "It’s their old habit. People will respond to their false allegations through ballots."
"They carry out the terrorist activities and blame those on others," he said.
Jashore-3 BNP candidate Anindya Islam Amit cast his vote around 8:45am at the Teachers' Training College centre.
