HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party’s candidate has dropped out from Jashore-3 race to extend his support to Awami League’s pick Kazi Nabil Ahmed, the sitting MP from the seat.
On Friday (Dec 28), JP aspirant Jahangir Alam went to meet the boat candidate in his residence and pledged his support for Ahmed.
Thanking Alam for his gesture, Ahmed said, “Jatiya Party is a part of the Grand Alliance. They were always with the coalition and will continue to be in it.”
He hoped that JP supporters will vote for boat in the Dec 30 election.
Explaining the decision to withdraw from race, Alam said, “I didn’t take the decision under any influence but to get the Grand Aliiance candidate victorious in the polls.”
“Boat will win by a landslide in Jashore,” he said before adding, “We will continue to work for Kazi Nabil Ahmed.”
