Bangladeshi cricket icon Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has officially kicked off his campaign in Narail after securing his candidacy to contest in the upcoming election with ruling Awami Leagues polls-logo boat.
Thousands of fans and supporters poured in to see the ODI cricket team captain Mashrafe after he went to his hometown on Saturday (Dec 22).
Earlier on Dec 20 Mashrafe appeared in a video conference from Sudha Sadan with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and talked with residences of Lohagara and Narail.
Around 3pm on Saturday, Mashrafe addressed people in a rally organized by the local Awami League.
“I am your children and my polls logo is boat. Inshallah you will vote for me if you consider me worthy of it,” said Mashrafe.
“The prime minister has given me the opportunity to serve you by giving me the nomination,” he added before finishing off his speech saying, “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.”
He was flanked by his father Golam Mortaza Swapan, Narail unit Awami League General Secretary Nizam Uddin Khan Nilu and other local leaders of the ruling party.
The Awami leaders vowed to work for the national cricket team skipper and get him victorious in the upcoming national election slated for Dec 30.
