With less than two weeks left for the 11th Parliamentary Election, incidents of torching campaign vehicle and crude bomb blasts were reported from different places on Friday (Dec 21) night.
In the northern district of Chapainawabganj, miscreants exploded crude bombs in two places in Rahanpur village of the district’s Gomastapur Upazila leaving two people injured, police said.
The incident took place in front of ruling Awami League candidate Ziaur Rahman’s personal and polls campaign offices in the village around 8pm on Friday.
Local authorities including the district’s additional SP Mahbub Alam Khan and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shihab Raihan visited the spots.
“Action would be taken after investigation,” said SP Alam.
In the southeast coastal district of Cox’s Bazar, miscreants set fire to a battery operated auto-rickshaw in Thangkhali area of the district’s Ukhiya Upazila on around 8pm on Friday, leaving two people injured.
The vehicle had been used for the announcement as part of the campaign for the local constituency’s AL candidate Shahin Akter.
Local AL leaders blamed that the BNP activists carried out the arson attack, BNP denied.
Police are looking into the incident, said Ukhiya police OC Abul Khayer
