Former minister and independent candidate forTangail-4 Abdul Latif Siddiqui has been hospitalised after he fell ill on the fourth day of his strike protesting the attack on his motorcade.
He was taken to Tangail General Hospital on Wednesday (Dec 19), Tangail Civil Surgeon Dr Sharif Hossain told Bangla Tribune.He said that Siddiqui, who is a banished Awami League leader, has been suffering from asthma and that an eight-member medical team was formed for him on Tuesday (Dec 18).
“The medical team carried out his check-up on Tuesday but as his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to the hospital,” Hossain added.
On Tuesday (Dec 16), Latif Siddiqui’s motorcade along with his entourage was attacked during his polls campaign. Since then, he has been observing a strike with his supporters with a three-point demand that includes the withdrawal of Kalihati police OC.
