Dead BodyA woman and a man have been found dead inside a flat in Faridpur town.
Police said they recovered the bodies of college teacher Sajia Begum and bank official Faruk Hasan late on Sunday from the latter’s rented flat at the South Jhiltuli neighbourhood.
“Faruq’s body was hanging from the ceiling fan while Sajia’s body, which was on the floor, had several injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon,” said Faridpur police OC AFM Nasim said.
The victims were tenants of ground floor flats of the same building, he added.
Hossain worked as audit officer for the local Sonali Bank branch while Begum was an assistant professor at Faridpur’s Sarda Sundory College.
The landlord of the four-storey building is one Nazrul Islam.
His son David said that Begum moved into the flat almost a year ago, with her two sons. Her husband Sheikh Shahidul Islam is a Dhaka-based businessman.
Islam, who has been taken in by the police for questioning, was in Faridpur on Sunday.
Bank official Hasan, who hailed from Dhaka’s Agargaon, rented a flat in on the same floor a month ago, according to the landlord’s son.
