The ruling Awami League (AL) will try to rig polls, says BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“They (Awami League) will try to rig the polls. We will have to guard the polling centres and vote for paddy sheaf to change the government,” said he said on Wednesday (Dec 12) at a street rally in Thakurgaon.
Accusing the ruling party of being poised to hold a lop-sided election, Alamgir said, “They are using the Election Commission and law enforcers for election engineering. But BNP supporters have to be careful and brave to restore the voting rights of the people.”
The senior BNP leader addressed 13 street rallies in electoral constituency on Wednesday.
Pledging free education for girls until graduation, job creation and introducing of unemployment benefits, Alamgir said, “This government is oppressive. They slap cases for every little trivial matter. They are involved in terrorism and corruption.”
“December 30 will be the day to deliver fitting response to these wrongdoings,” added Alamgir.
