Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has held eight Rohingyas while they were trying to cross into India.
The incident took place in Satkhira on Friday night when human traffickers took the Rohingyas to Kushkhali border area of the district.
BGB's Kushkhali BOP Commander Subedar Zahir said, “The traffickers brought the Rohingyas from Chattogram and kept in a house at Shirki village of Kushkhali.”
Acting on a tip-off, the border guards held the Rohingyas and handed over to the local police, he said.
Satkhira Sadar police OC Maruf Ahmed said, “BGB has handed over Eight Rohingyas including women and two children to police. Police will escort them to Cox’s Bazar Rohingya camps.”
