The Election Commission has instructed the law enforcers to keep a close watch on the Rohingyas at the Teknaf and Ukhiya camps during the elections.
“There is some apprehension that the Rohingyas might be used in the upcoming polls; they must be kept under strict surveillance,” said Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukdar on Friday (Nov 30).
He said that polls officials have been warned that severe measures will be taken against those who show favouritism. “No favouritsm will be tolerated.”
However, he declined to comment on BNP’s complaints that the EC is siding with the ruling Awami League.
