The Election Commission has withdrawn Superintendent of Police (SP) Anisur Rahman from his post in Narayanganj as his wife is a Member of Parliament (MP) in the reserved constituencies for women.
On Nov 25, a delegation of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on behalf of the 20-Party Alliance filed a written complaint with the EC against him.
The complaint cited Rahman’s inability to remain neutral in his responsibility during polls in light of his wife Farematuz Zohura being an Awami League MP.
EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed confirmed that Rahman was withdrawn from his post as SP following the complaint and the public security division of the home ministry has been notified.
