A court in Kishoreganj has framed charges against five people for carrying out a militant attack at Sholakia Eidgah area in Kishoreganj on Jul 7, 2016.
On Nov 28, chief judicial magistrate Md Habibullah framed the charges and fixed Jan 15 as the date for deposition. The accused are: Jahidul Haque Tanim, Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi, Mizanur Rahman alias Boro Mizan, Anwar Hossain and Abdus Sabur Khan.
The police have found involvement of 24 JMB militants in the attack but made five of them accused as the rest were killed in different raids.
The five are now in prison.
District public prosecutor Shah Azizul Huq, said, “Charges were framed under repression of terrorism law.”
“The criminals have pleaded not guilty,” Huq added.
During the attack on a police post near the Sholakia Eidgah on Jul 7, 2016, the militants engaged in a two hour long shootout with the police killing two constables and injuring another eight lawmen.
During incidents, one radical called Abir Rahman was killed while another militant, Shafiul Islam, died later of injuries sustained during the fight.
A housewife, Rina Bhoumik, was killed by a stray bullet.
