Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has inaugurated the visitors’ centre at service area-1 of the Padma Bridge.
“71 percent construction of the bridge has been completed,” he said while opening the visitors’ centre around 10am on Friday.
The 9300 sft visitors’ centre has a multi-purpose hall with a capacity of 120 persons while the indoor-outdoor cafe at the facility can host up to 100 people at a time. There are also a VIP room and a conference room in the visitors’ centre.Khandaker Anwarul Islam, Senior Secretary of the bridges department said that the project is 60 percent completed and the issue with the pillar design has been solved.
Following the inauguration of the visitors’ centre, he said, “Visitors’ centres are a part of big infrastructure projects like this one because a lot of people visit such projects.”
“People will get to learn a lot of things about the bridge from this centre,” added Islam.
