Three die of alcohol poisoning in Jhenidah

Three people have died of alcohol poisoning in Kaliganj of Jhenidah.
They died while under treatment on Friday and Saturday. The deceased are Munna Das, 25, Shuvonkar Mitra Tito, 40, and Bikash Kumar Bappi, 50.
Two others- Tapan, 35, and Nirmal, 55- are currently still undergoing treatment at Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, confirmed Health and Family Planning officer of the health complex Dr Hussain Shafayat.
According to hospital and local sources, on the day before and after Dusserah, Munna, Tito and Bappi- all hailing from Kaliganj upazila- became ill from alcohol poisoning.
Munna died at his house, while Tito and Bappi died after being admitted to Jessore Medical College and Hospital (JMCH). They had earlier been admitted to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex before being transferred to JMCH.
Yunus Ali, officer in-charge (OC) of Kaliganj police station, confirmed the incident to the Dhaka Tribune.
The OC added that the autopsies of the deceased would be conducted in Jessore, as they had died in the district and not in the area under his jurisdiction.
