Activists of the ruling party’s student wing have removed the grave marker of executed war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.
Chowdhury was executed in 2015 for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of 1971.
The grave marker of the former BNP politician, which held the honorary title of a martyr, offended many activists and war veterans.
Former Bangladesh Chatra League vice-president of Chattogram University, Abdul Malek told Bangla Tribune, “The title of ‘shaheed’ before his name is an insult to the martyrs of ’71.”
BCL activists in Chattogram took down the marker on Friday (Sept 21) evening added Malek.
