Water flows 15cm above danger mark in TeestaThe water of Teesta River in Nilphamari has been flowing above the danger mark.
Heavy rainfall in the country’s northern region as well as the torrent of water flowing downstream from India caused the rise of water.
The water in Dalia point of Teesta barrage on the river started rising on Monday night, which crossed 15cm above the danger mark on Tuesday (Sept 11), Rafiqul Islam, executive engineer of Dalia’s Water Development Board (WDB), told Bangla Tribune.
WDB’s Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre In-Charge Nurul Islam said ,”The water was flowing 10cm above the danger line on Monday night.”
People were seen leaving home as floods hit the char areas of district’s Dimla and Jaldhaka Upazilas.
“All preparations are set to tackle the floods,” said the executive engineer.
A total of 44 sluice gates have kept open to control the possible flood situations.
