Sheikh Hasina has banished the word monga (food shortage) from the northern part of the country to the museums, asserted road transport and bridges minister, Obaidul Quader.
The minister made the comment at a pre-election campaign meeting held in Nilphamari on Saturday (Sept 8).
Of 160 million people, 140 million now have mobile phones with IT services, reaching the union level, commented the minister, adding “All this is due to the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”
He also underlines the success of the current government in providing allowance for widows, physically challenged persons and scholarships for talented students.
“Sheikh Hasina has found a place among ten leading statespersons of the world and her leadership quality is praised globally,” he added.
The minister slated BNP-Jamaat for trying to manipulate the safe road movement and create national anarchy.
“They tried to undermine the government, but failed,” added the veteran AL politician.
Addressing the AL workers in Nilphamari, he said, “If we are united then no power can hinder our march forward.”
He also asked party workers to be vigilant about BNP-Jamaat’s politics of arson and violence.
