Ten gets life in prison for student’s murder in Khulna

A court in Khulna has sentenced ten people to life imprisonment for the murder of a college student.
The court also slapped the convicted with a fine of Tk 10,000 each failing which another year to be added with their sentence.
Khulna divisional speedy trial tribunal Judge MA Rob Hawlader announced the verdict on Thursday.
On Sep 13, 2009, Sheikh Badruddoza, a first-year student of Rupsha Upazila’s Bangabandhu College was severely beaten by a group of men during a conflict that broke out regarding the Arabic teaching at a mosque in Khulna’s Terokhada Upazila.
He later died on the way to Dhaka from Khulna Medical College Hospital.
The deceased’s brother filed a lawsuit against 12 people with Terokhada police station.
At the end of the investigation, SI Mizanur Rahman of Terokhada station pressed charges against 14 people. Among them, two died during the trial and two were found not guilty by the court.
