An accident has killed three people and injured 15 others when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Brahmanbaria.
The incident was reported around 2pm of Wednesday from Sarail Upazila’s Boishamura area, said police.
The deceased have been identified as Rubina Begum, 50, her daughter Sabrina, 29 and a seven-month-old child Yeasin.
Brahmanbaria Aditional Superintendent of police Md Razaul Kabir said, “A Dhaka-bound bus operated by Ena Paribahan veered out of control and fell into a nearby ditch, leaving three passengers dead on the spot and fifteen others injured.”Witnesses and a passenger of the bus Shikha Chowdhury said that the bus was running very fast as it was competing with another bus to cross and veered out of control.
Brahmanbaria Fire Service Deputy Director Safrul Hasan Bhuiyan said, “We rushed to the spot with ambulance and recovered the injured passengers. Later, they are admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital and nearby private clinics.”
