Activists of BNP student front in Rajshahi has locked the party’ offices in the northern city on Sunday after new committee for the Jatiyatabadi Chhatradal (JCD) was announced.
The office was reported to be locked until 4:30pm.
A circular signed by Rajshahi metro JCD President Asaduzzaman Jony and General Secretary Rafiqul Islam Bobi on Saturday announced new committees for units in Boalia, Rajpara, Motihar, Shah Makhdum, Kashiadanga and Chandrima and in Rajshahi College, City College and New Govt. Degree College.
Several activists, who were deprived of posts in the committees, marched to BNP metro unit offices and locked it down.
Md Arifuzzaman, a Rajshahi JCD vice-president, who was present at the time, told reporters, “Committees were announced for six units and three colleges without informing anyone.”
Protesters claimed even the Rajshahi metro unit BNP President Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and General Secretary were not informed before the announcement.
Arifuzzaman said, “Unless the committees are scrapped all the BNP offices in Rajshahi will be locked down eventually.”
Rajshahi metro unit JCD President Asaduzzaman Jony said, “The qualified aspirants made to the committees and those who have left out often resort to these kinds of untoward incidents.”
