The death toll in a head-on collision between a bus and a human hauler, locally known as ‘Leguna’, has risen to 15.
The road crash Saturday afternoon on the highway at the district’s Lalpur Upazila left 10 people dead on the spot, said officials.
At least 30 others were taken to the hospital from the scene.
Four of them succumbed to their injuries later in the day while being treated at the state-run hospital in Lalpur Upazila town while a fifth died on Sunday, said local Banpara highway police OC Shamsun Nur.
“A Pabna-bound bus from Rajshahi collided head-on with the leguna leaving 10 people dead on the spot. At least 30 others have been injured,” Natore Fire Station’s Office Mahiuddin Ahmed told Bangla Tribune soon after the crash was reported on Saturday.
