At least 10 people have been injured when a clash erupted between local activists of Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Bogura.
The incident was reported from district’s Nandigram upazila on Thursday night, said police.
Confirming the incident, Nandigram police Inspector Anisur Rahman said, “A case has been filed by local AL leader Abu Huraira Akash over the incident. Later, we arrested local BNP Joint General Secretary Anwar Hossain.”
According to the case statement, Akash along with other 7-8 AL activists were having tea at a stall near to Upazila bus stand where local BNP leader Mosharrof Hossian with others used some abusive words pointing towards them.
Later, the BNP activists carried out an armed attack over the AL activists which triggered the clash. Akash and 4-5 more AL activists were injured during the clash. Later, Nandigram police took control over the situation.
Central Vice-President of Zia Shishu Kishore Songothan Mosharrof Hossain said, “On Thursday night, local Chattra league and Jubo league activists attacked BNP activists who attended an Eid greetings programme and it left 4-5 activists injured.
“We want fair investigation on this incident,” he added.
Nandigram police Inspector Anisur Rahman said, “A case has been filed by an AL leader and a BNP leader has been arrested.
“The situation is under control,” Rahman added.
