BNP activist held over spreading pejorative media posts

Representational imagePolice have detained a man in connection with spreading derogatory posts and making defamatory comments on social media about the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, and other ministers and intellectuals.

Chadim Howladar, 28, a reported to be a Chhatra Dal activist, was held from Banaripara upazila on Saturday (August 18) by the police.

OC of local thana, Khalilur Rahman, said: “Chadim has been held after a case was filed by local BCL president, Ruhul Amin Rasel, under the information and technology law, (ICT Act) on Saturday night.”

The arrestee has been produced before court on Sunday (Aug 19)”, OC Rahman added.

Chadim Howladar was involved in spreading demeaning comments, targeting the prime-minister, Sheikh Hasina, bridges minister Obaidul Quader, ICT Adviser, Sajeeb Wazed Joy and others, through his social media ID in the last few days.

He had posted pejorative comments on Aug 15 denigrating a large number of people, the police added.
