Remittance rises 18% to $1.32b in July

In July last year, expats sent nearly $1.12 billion in remittances.
Remittance inflow in July, the first month of 2018-19 fiscal, however, slightly dropped compared to the previous month. In June, it stood at $1.38 billion.
It’s expected to rebound in August as migrant workers will send more funds back home ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha, according to Bangladesh Bank officials.
More than half of Bangladesh’s remittances come from expatriates in six Middle-eastern countries — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain.
With the latest figures, Bangladesh’s forex reserve stands at $32.12 billion as of Thursday.
