All electric lines to go underground by 2025

DG of Power Cell, Mohammad Hossain, said: “This project has been taken to prevent accidents, beautify the city and ensure uninterrupted supply. By the next five years, we want to take all the lines underground.”
“We have made certain areas in Sylhet wireless and Dhaka Power Distribution Company is leading the drive,” he added.
MD of DPDC Bikash Dewan said: “At the initial stage, lines in Dhanmondi will be taken underground and within three years, one section of Dhanmondi will have all subterranean lines.”
Under the Power Development Board (PDB) lines of one area in Sylhet have been taken underground; An Australian company, Energytrone has been given the task for a feasibility study about subterranean lines in Cumilla, Chattogram and Mymensingh.
Westzone Power Distribution Company Limited is making a project called Underground power Distribution System Project in West Zone aimed at subterranean lines in Khulna, Jashore, Barishal.
In the north of the country, Northern Electricity Supply Company Ltd has already taken 5,000 km lines underground in Rajshahi.
