FILE PHOTOThe Dhaka International Trade Fair will remain closed on Friday (Jan 6).

The decision was taken as the central countdown event to the year-long celebrations of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary will take place at a nearby venue on the same day, said Fatima Yasin, Vice Chairman of Export Promotion Bureau.

An announcement has been made at the fair venue in this regard, she added.
The countdown to Bangabandhu’s birth centennial will start at the National Parade Ground of Tejgaon from 5pm on Jan 10.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to launch the countdown in Dhaka and across Bangladesh – at every upazila in every district, and in all public places.
The day is significant because it coincides with the beginning of a period of waiting, or countdown for Bangabandhu's centennial celebration, while it marks the anniversary of Bangabandhu’s homecoming - his release from Pakistan, and return to an independent Bangladesh in 1972.
