New ERF office inauguratedThe new office of the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF), the organisation dedicated specially for the country’s economic reporters, was inaugurated Thursday (May 31) at the Paltan Tower in the city.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith formally inaugurated the office having a space of 5,000 square feet at the Paltan Tower at a simple ceremony titled ‘Aponaloye ERF’ in the evening.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir graced the function as special guest with ERF President Saiful Islam Dilal in the chair.
Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Mohammad Farashuddin, General Economics Division member of the Planning Commission Dr M Shamsul Alam, Chairman of Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) Md Shafiqur Rahman Patwari, Bangladesh Bank Banking Reform Adviser SK Sur Chowdhury, Financial Express Editor Moazzem Hossain, Chairman of Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB) Syed Mahbubur Rahman and journalist Shykh Seraj spoke, among others, attended the function.
Muhith lauded the ERF leadership for putting up such effort to build their own office.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir said it took almost 25 years to own an office by the ERF and hoped that the ERF would turn it as a ‘center of excellence’ within a short space of time.
ERF President Saiful Islam Dilal said an institute is being set up at the ERF for imparting training to the promising economic reporters.
High ups of the various banking and financial institutions and ERF members joined the function.
