Stocks finished the week down on Thursday (Jan 31) with falling trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 129 points down at 5,821.01. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 41.04 points down at 2,007.96 and with 11.01 points down at 1,310.60 respectively.
Out of the 350 issues traded at the DSE on Thursday, 105 issues gained against 238 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 7.12 percent to Tk 5.17 billion. But the average trade volume fell by 2.71 percent to 144.4 million shares.
The top five gainers of the week were Provati Insurance Company, Asia Insurance, Monno Jute Stafflers, Prime Insurance Company and Janata Insurance while the major losing issues of the week were Meghna Pet Industries, Emerald Oil Industries, BD Auto Cars, Bangladesh Industrial Finance and Prime Islami Life Insurance.
The top five turnover leaders were United Power Generation and Distribution, Premier Bank, Grameen Phone, Eastern Housing and United Finance.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down with its major CASPI index ending 374.91 points lower at 17,890.92.
