The jewellers’ forum has hiked up prices of gold to Tk 130 per gram to be effective from Wednesday (Jan 2).
According to Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) each gram of 22 Carat gold will now cost Tk 4,200 and each vori will cost Tk 48,998.
As of Tuesday (Jan 1) per gram of 22 carat gold was Tk 4,070 which means that each vori cost Tk 47,872.
On Aug 6 BAJUS had revised down the price by Tk 100 and after almost 5 months on Dec 23 had hiked up the price by Tk 100 per gram again.
However, they reversed their Dec 23 decision at the request of customers and keeping the New Year in mind.
The jewellers’ forum President Ganga Charan Malakar told Bangla Tribune that the move came as the price also went up in the international market.
