Politics is a very profitable business nowadays, said Debapriya Bhattacharya, distinguished fellow of Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).
“The business tycoons are serving the purpose of the politicians. They are enjoying state benefits, all the while depriving small politicians of those benefits,” he told the media on Thursday (Nov 22) at BRAC Centre Inn in the capital.
It makes politics a very profitable business indeed, Debapriya added.
He said, "The businessmen should have good governance in the competitive economy of their organization. Therefore, competitive politics is also needed.
They should play a larger role in transforming an underdeveloped country to a developed one."
However, he expressed reservations about whether the entrepreneurs are ready to fulfil the daunting task.
