Infiltrators attacked party office, not students: Obaidul Quader The perpetrators of the attack on Awami League chief’s Dhanmondi offices were not student protesters rather infiltrators with political motivation, says senior party leader Obaidul Quader.
“Witnesses said the attackers were carrying bags full of stones and some of them had firearms. It;s clear that they were not students. They were BNP-Jamaat musclemen who infiltrated the movement”, he told a media briefing on Saturday.
Producing some of the stones hurled at the party offices before the members of the media, the Awami League general secretary said those were not ordinary stones found on the streets but granites.
“And these came from the BNP and their allies. They have made school uniforms as well as produced fake ID cards from Mirpur.”
Blaming the BNP for orchestrating the attack, Quader described the party’s leaders as ‘political miscreants.’
“Their sole aim is to create instability. Bangladesh will never be in peace until the BNP exists. The party’s (leaders from) the top to bottom should resign or else there will be no peace.”
Road Transport Minister Quader said they government has been patient in handling the movement by school and college students.
“But now you see, how the BNP and Jamaat is plotting against a peaceful protest...there have been shots fired in front of our office.”
