Deprived of chairs, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists have protested while seated on the floor. Their main allegation is that most area of Modhu’s Canteen, an iconic meeting place for Dhaka University student politicians, is occupied by activists and leaders of its rival student body Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

The Assitant Organising Secretary JCD's Dhaka University unit Nasir Uddin says: "We came in the morning and found that all chairs and tables occupied by Chhatra League workers and supporters.”

Reportedly, BCL's acting president Al Nahian Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhatyacharya were seated at the canteen.

JCD activists sat on the floor in protest and later brought out a procession to protest the attack on JCD activists at Jagannath University.

The occupation of tables and chairs at Modhu’s canteen was deemed a technique by JCD General Secretary Shyamal, Acting BCL president Al Nahian Khan Joy said before adding, "This accusation is false; we cannot make them furniture if they cannot find them.”
