The BNP has decided to oust its Sylhet metro unit’s General Secretary Badruzzaman Selim.
In a media release, the party said that the decision was based on ‘specific allegations of violating the party discipline’.
Selim has been stripped off from his post and his primary membership has been also scrapped, says the statement signed by Assistant Office Secretary Taiful Islam Tipu.
According to sources in the BNP, Selim’s decision not withdraw his candidacy for Sylhet mayor cost his membership.
The party has nominated incumbent mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury as its candidate for the Jul 30 polls.
Tuesday’s statement also said that the BNP has expelled Masud Rana Khan, member of the party’s Tarakanda Upazila unit in Mymensingh. It, however, did not say why the decision was taken.
