LDP president Oli Ahmed will declare programmes to demand release of Khaleda Zia and censure different activities of the government. He will elaborate the future plan at a press conference to be held on 27 June, Thursday.
Several LDP leaders have said that after the formation of the Jatiya Oikkya Front, the political importance of 20 party diminished as Jamaat Islami plus the entire alliance were left inactive.
LDP President Oli Ahmed has said that BNP has failed in securing release for Khaleda Zia.
Therefore, he has decided to become active on the field.
Some LDP leaders feel that an influential foreign nation has a role in the resurgent role of LDP in politics and this may also be a strategy to keep the government under pressure on the China issue.
Regarding Oli Ahmed’s new initiative, BNP Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, said: “We do not have any official information about Oli Ahmed’s initiative; a party has the freedom to hold its own press conference.”
One LDP leader said: “With BNP joining parliament, opposition politics is non-existent in the country and LDP president is trying to carve out a new equation in politics.”
Chairman of an allied party of the Jatiya Oikko Front, added: “Jamaat is cornered and so they may be trying to become active with Oli Ahmed at the front.”
Another leader of the 20 party alliance adds: “Oli Ahmed wants the release of Khaleda Zia but he did not attend a single meeting after Khaleda Zia was sent to jail.”
Head of another party in the Jatiya Oikya Front feels that Jamaat is behind the recent move of Oli Ahmed.
While the main topic in politics is Oli Ahmed’s upcoming press conference, three presidium members quit from his party.
