Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader was addressing the media. File PhotoPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government will isn’t inhuman and will never kill BNP chief Khaleda Zia in prison by denying her treatment, said Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“Khaleda might be in prison for the law but the government would never do something as inhuman as killing her in prison without treatment,” he said while speaking to the media on Friday (May 24) after a meeting with the party’s secretaries.
Quader’s remarks came after BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a media briefing claimed that the current regime was neglecting Khaleda’s treatment and pushing her towards her death.
He said that the meeting addressed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary which will be celebrated even at the grassroots level from March 17, 2020 to March 26, 2021 to make people aware of the authentic history of Bangabandhu and the Liberation War.
Saying that the party has chalked nationwide programs to celebrate the Father of the Nation’s birth centenary, Quader added, “The programs have been arranged even at the grassroots level including our national conference.”
Responding to queries on whether opportunists were entering the party, the road transport and bridges minister said, “No opportunists will be allowed.”
He added that only the tried and tested leaders will be brought to the party’s leadership from grassroots.
