BNP`s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. File PhotoBNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that whatever the government ministers say, the opposite happens in reality.
A few days ago, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi declared in a press conference that the price of essentials will not rise but the opposite happened and the rates rose almost immediately, said Rizvi.
The senior BNP leaders made the comment on Wednesday (Apr 24), at the the party’s Naya Paltan offices.
Rizvi says that even last Thursday, onions sold for Tk 25 per kg which is now between Tk 26 and Tk 27.
In the same manner, last week, garlic sold for Tk 80 which is now Tk 120.
People are struggling to buy essentials, claims Rizvi and added, “I denounce this government which has failed to keep prices within a tolerable range.”
Saying that the social fabric was being tainted by rising violence against women and children, he asserted, “Crimes have taken a diabolical form; girls are being burnt, raped and innocent people maimed.”
Casting doubt over the proper punishment of the perpetrators of these atrocious crimes, he deplored, “Bangladesh is passing through a reign of terror which is the impact of vote rigging.”
