BNP will protest gas price hike: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir speaking at a media call at the party headquarters on Sunday (Mar 17).BNP will protest to the best of its abilities if gas prices are hiked, said the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
His remarks came during a media call at the BNP headquarters on Sunday (Mar 17).
“A one-party rule has been established in the country,” he said and added, “We are celebrating Independence Day during the time when there is no democracy and people have no rights.”
The senior leader announced a seven-day program on behalf of BNP and its affiliated bodies for Independence Day (Mar 26).
He said that if they can get permission a cultural program will be arranged on Mar 25 at the Engineer’s Institution or Mahanagar Natya Mancha.
He added that the national and party flag will be raised at the party headquarters. The leaders will then pay their respect to the martyrs at the National Memorial and then to Ziaur Rahman’s grave on Mar 26.
Fakhrul said that the party will take out a rally on Mar 27 if they can get permission.
“The rest of the programmes will be carried out by Jubo League, Jubo Dal and other affiliate organisations,” he said.
