BNP central committee leader Mohammad Shahab Uddin has resigned from all party posts citing personal reasons.
Uddin, who served as the Deputy Financial Affairs Secretary in the central committee, was also the vice president of Dhaka North Metropolitan BNP.
“I have carried out the responsibilities trusted upon me by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia with utmost honesty and dedication. However, I am unable to continue my duties due to my current health condition and family issues. Therefore, I am requesting to relieve me of all party duties,” reads the resignation sent to party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday (Mar 16).
Earlier in February another central committee member and former Khulna-2 MP Ali Asgar Lobi resigned from the party citing illness.
