MEHEDI HASANDr Moin Khan, BNP standing committee member and a few former ambassadors have been discarded from the party’s restructured Foreign Affairs Committee, FAC. On Saturday, the first meeting on FAC was held in which the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, took part from London via Skype.

Reportedly, the two hour meeting was a convivial one. On Jan 17 last, the FAC was dissolved at the order of Tarique Rahman with the newly formed one featuring new young faces.

The elected persons were given letters signed by party Senior Joint Secretary General, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

The exclusion of Dr Moin Khan has puzzled many since he is accepted within the diplomatic circle in Dhaka.

Several party insiders say, since Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has been made team leader of FAC, Dr Moin Khan, senior in age and experience, was removed so he would not feel awkward.

When contacted Dr Moin Khan refused to comment on the matter.

Former ambassadors, Sirajul Islam, Mohammad Al Harun, Mohammad Mohsin and Professor of Jahangirnagar University, Dilara Chowdhury are no longer in the new committee.

The new members are, vice chairman, Abdul Awal Mintu, Iqbal Hossain Tuku, Anindya Islam Amit, barrister Kaiser Kamal, advocate Asaduzzaman Asad and Sadek Hossain Khoka’s son, Ishrak Hossain.

Meanwhile, old faces to remain include Riaz Rahman, Sabih Uddin Ahmed, Dr Asaduzzaman, Shama Obaed, Inamul Huq Chowdhury, barrister Rumin Farhana, Tabith Awal and barrister Kaiser Kamal.
