Jamaat-e-Islami has expelled Mojibur Rahman Monju, a member of its Dhaka Metropolitan policymaking Majlis-e-Shura, from the party.
Monju, who is also a former president of Jamaat’s student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir, disclosed the information in the social media.
“On Feb 15, Friday, around 7:30pm an executive council member informed me on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Maqbul Ahmed that my membership with the party has been revoked,” read his Facebook post.
Jamaat, however, didn’t issue any press release on the matter as of writing this report.
Confirming the party decision, the party’s central Majlis-e-Shura member Golam Mostofa told Bangla Tribune, “Mojibur Rahman Monju has been expelled from the organization.”
He, however, declined to comment further.
Monju is the second former Shibir president who has been expelled from Jamaat due to their demand of reforms within the party.
In 1982, Ahmed Abdul Kader was removed from the party in a similar fashion.
