The undated photos shows Road Transport Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader speaks at a programme in Dhaka. FILE PHOTOThe BNP is suffering from “polls failure phobia,” said Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“BNP has lost all hope from losing the polls,” he said on Wednesday (Feb 6) at the AL president’s Dhanmondi office.
He added that BNP is not participating in the Upazila council polls because they are sacred of a massive defeat similar to that of the Dec 30 election.
“BNP and Oikya Front should adorn themselves with black badges to observe their failure in the national polls,” Quader said.
Responding to queries about BNP and Jatiya Party not taking part in the upcoming upazila polls, he said that it’s not possible to tell until the last minute who will participate and who won’t.
He added that, no matter who participates or doesn’t, the election will take place.
The road, transport and bridges minister then went on to express agreement with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nurul Huda’s comment about the city corporation polls being “as fair as the national polls,” saying that there is no room for disagreements there.
The minister said that AL would only nominate winnable candidates for the upazila polls.
