Jatiya Oikya Front will only join the talks if their demand for fresh polls is included in the agenda, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Referring to Awami League General Secretary’s comment that the prime minister’s invitation is to exchange post-polls greetings, he said, “We will join the talks if scrapping of the Dec 30 polls is included in the agenda. Otherwise, we will not.

It’s the decision of both the Jatiya Oikya Front and BNP,” Alamgir Added.

His comments came on Tuesday (Jan 15) at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he went to visit party activist Faisal who was injured in an attack by miscreants.

Slamming the Awami League general secretary, the senior BNP leader said that he should publicly apologise for the farcical election and vote stealing.

Accusing the ruling Awami League of unleashing torture and anarchy across the country since Dec 30 polls, Alamgir said, “The whole country has turned into a hospital.”

Terming the ruling party as ‘shameless’, he said, “It has been exposed before the nation that the Awami League plotted to score in an open field.”

The senior BNP leader also said that the injured Jubo Dal Jashore unit member Faisal was stabbed so bad that the doctors had to give him eight bags of blood.

“They don’t regard humans as humans anymore,” he said before claiming that everyone is unhappy about the polls.

Alamgir was flanked by BNP Vice Chairman AZM Zahid Hossain and BNP chief’s media wing official Shairul Kabir Khan among others while visiting the injured party activist.
