BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that the government is taking the garments industry towards planned destruction.

“By creating a confrontation between factory owners and workers, the key driving force of the country’s economy is now on the verge of shutting down. The government has failed to set a fair wage for the workers and implement it through the owners,” said Rizvi on Tuesday (Jan 15) at the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan.

The Senior Joint Secretary General said, “You have seen how the Awami League has destroyed the Jute industry after independence. People haven’t forgotten how the big storages and factories were burned down.

The government has now engaged in a dangerous game of destroying the garments industry,” alleged Rizvi.

He called on the government to accept the rational demands of the workers and take measures to solve the crisis through discussion.
