The Jatiya Party who bagged 22 seats in the 11th National Elections will be taking on the role of the main opposition in the parliament, said party Chairman HM Ershad.
A media release signed by the former military dictator read that Ershad will act as the leader of opposition while the party’s Co-Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader will act as the deputy.
“As chairman of Jatiya Party, I would like to inform my party’s supporters, leaders, activists and the countrymen that we will act as the main opposition in Jatiya Sangsad,” Ershad said in the press release.

He called on the Speaker to make necessary arrangement to carry out their decision. Ershad who had served as special envoy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the last term said that none of the 22 lawmakers elected from his party will be a part of the new Cabinet.
