AL’s election campaign starts next week

Awami League's campaigns will officially kick off with Prime Minister and party President Sheikh Hasina paying tribute at Banganandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s grave at Tungipara.The Awami Laegue is all set to start its election campaigns for the upcoming national polls slated for Dec 30.
After many meetings and discussions the party nailed down Dec 11 as the day to start the campaigns, two days after the last date of pulling out of the race which is Dec 9 and allocation of the electoral symbol.
Party sources said that the campaigns will officially kick off with Prime Minister and party President Sheikh Hasina paying tribute at Banganandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s grave at Tungipara.
After that she is scheduled visit nearby districts and hold meetings according to the draft of her itenary but it will be finalised based on the transport system, route and time constraint.
However sources said that the premier might visit come to Dhaka after her Tungipara visit through Khulna, Bagerhat, Narail and Jashore. Moreover, she is more likely to visit the districts by road.
Hasina’s itenary also includes a visit to Hazrat Shah Paran’s shrine in Sylhet after which she might visit the other districts including Mymensingh where she will be exchanging views with her party leaders as well as hold meetings.
AL’s election campaign committee said that it’s leaning towards a glitzy digital campaign with the help of various singers, actors and artists from the glamour world.
“The publicity committee is still discussing how to distribute the campaign materials,” said the party’s Publicity Secretary Hasan Mahmud.
“We will be involving several media personalities in our campaigns and on Dec 11 we will start distributing leaflets with them infront of FDC,” he added.
Mahmud also said that a few TVCs are ready to promote Awami Laegue and the TV starts will be involved in promotions in the capital as well as outside.
Several media personalities and stars including Jahid Hasan, his wife Sadia Islam Mou, Shami Kaisar, Afsana Mimi, Tanvin Sweety, Ferdous, Riaz, Shakil Khan, Aruna Biswas will be involved in the party promotions.
Members of the election campaign committee have confirmed that the TV stars will be sharing videos through social media platforms such as Facebook.
They said that the videos will showcase Awami League’s contributions to developing Bangladesh over the last ten years with Padma Bridge as the prime focus. The content for those videos are ready and some of them contain messages from media personalities such as Hasan Imam, Tareque Anam Khan and few others.
Meanwhile the current AL Member of Parliament and folk singer Mumtaz has prepared songs for the campaigns and stars will also be participating in door to door campaigns and carry out event based promotions like concerts.
The party will be asking the public for votes through various graphic posters as well as publish a booklet containing AL’s achievements of 10 years in office.
They are confident that that if they can successfully portray their achievements in developing the country and the steps taken for to improve the lives of the marginalized communities, people will want AL back for another term.
