Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) chief Kader Siddique says he will not be able to contest the polls until the Sheikh Hasina-led administration is in office.
His remarks came on Sunday (Dec 2) soon after the Tangail returning officer revoked his nomination filed for the 11th parliamentary election slated for Dec 30.
Speaking to the media outside the returning officer’s office, Kader said, “It seems that I will be not allowed to contest the election till my sister (Sheikh Hasina) is in office.”
Kader, who’s KSJL joined the Dr Kamal Hossain’s alliance with the BNP, Jatiya Oikya Front, last month, said he has no regrets. “It doesn’t matter whether I can contest or not. What I want is a fair election; our struggle is to ensure that the people can exercise their franchises.”
Election officials scrapped his nomination due to defaulted loans. Kader said he will file an appeal against the decision with the Election Commission.
