Ten retired armed forces officers have joined Dr Kamal Hossain-led Gano Forum ahead of the 11th parliamentary elections slated for Dec 30.
They joined Gano Forum, which launched a coalition with the BNP and four other parties last month, during a programme at Hossain’s Motijheel offices on Monday (Nov 19).
The ten former military officers are retired Bangladesh Army lieutenant colonels, Khandakar Faridul Akbar, a freedom fighter, Sheikh Akarm Ali, Mohammad Shahidullah and AFM Nuruddin; retired army majors Masudul Hasan, Md Imran, Md Badrul Alam Siddiqui and retired air force squadron leaders Md Forkan Alam Khan, Md Habib Ullah and Md Mahmud.
Gano Forum chief Hossain, however, was ecstatic over the retired defence officers joining his party.
Speaking to media at his residence, Hossain said, “It’s a matter of joy that several new members joined Gano Forum over the past couple of days. We haven’t called anyone, they came by themselves.”
“We have no plan to call anyone but anybody can join us,” he said.
