British envoy meets Kamal Hossain

Combination of file photo shows Dr Kamal Hossain and British High Commissioner Alison Blake.The UK envoy in Dhaka has met Jatiya Oikya Front chief Dr. Kamal Hossain on Monday (Nov 19).
High Commissioner Alison Blake’s car entered the Gano Forum president’s Bailey Road residence around 5:45pm and left around 6:30pm.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Dr Kamal said, “They wanted to a brief on the overall situation, especially, our view on the upcoming election.
“We have told them that we still want an election under a neutral government, which is in the seven-point demands raised while launching the coalition.”
British envoy Alison Blake's car is seen leaving Dr Kamal Hossain's Bailey Road residence on Monday (Nov 19).Dr Kamal said that they told UK envoy Blake that the “problems started” when the constitutional provision of a caretaker government was “removed through a (court) judgment”.
The issue of the 2014 election, when 154 candidates were elected unopposed, came up during the discussion, he said describing the incumbent government an “unelected one”.
“The government had then (after the Jan 5 polls) said an election will be given soon, which turned out to be five years.”
