Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader. FILE PHOTOThere is no need or scope for any political dialogues anymore, says Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“The Election Commission will announce the schedule in the first week of November,” he told the media on Saturday (Oct 20).
The road transport minister says that he does not see the point in holding any more talks with the polls schedule announcement so near.
“The opposition has no acceptability with the general people. They went to the foreigners rather than the people immediately after forming Oikya Front,” said Quader.
He also said that Jatiya Oikya Front does not pose a major challenge as they have not been able to stage any significant movement in the last 10 years.
On Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad’s apprehensions about the upcoming polls, Quader said “He is entitled to express his opinion as the chairman of his party and the opposition in parliament.”
He added that AL does not own the former dictator’s party and whether they will form a coalition with AL is not clear yet.
The senior AL leader also commented on the split in Bikalpa Dhara. “We have no hand in the split of any party. If they wish to break their alliance, it’s their matter.”
