Expressing his concern whether the upcoming national elections will be held or not, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad says his party will still prepare to contest in all 300 seats.

“We will contest in all 300 seats in the next elections,” he said while addressing a rally of Jatiya Party-led United National Alliance (UNA) held at the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday.

People have concern whether the next elections will be held or not, said the former military dictator before adding that a congenial atmosphere to hold the election lacks in the country.

The former military dictator urged the government to ensure proper environment for holding free and fair polls.

He also demanded the election-time government should be formed with the political parties having representatives in the parliament.

The Jatiya Party chief urged the UNA coalition partners to submit a list of aspiring candidates for the polls.

Candidates have to be qualified who outshines the party benchmark, he added.

Claiming to be the most elderly politician of the country, Ershad said, “Perhaps the next election is my last one. I am dedicating my last days for the country and its people.”

Former dictator Ershad asked for peoples blessing so that Jatiya Party can return to power.

It’s his only expectation from the citizens of the country, he said.
